Day 8: Wildlife Safari and the Majestic Murchison Falls

Today is packed with adventure and natural wonder. Begin with an early morning game drive through the expansive savannah in search of Africa’s iconic wildlife. With the help of a knowledgeable ranger guide, you’ll track elephants, giraffes, buffalo, lions, leopards, and several antelope species, along with an astonishing variety of birdlife.

In the afternoon, embark on a boat safari along the Victoria Nile, cruising upstream toward the base of the thunderous Murchison Falls. This 3-hour journey offers exceptional views of wildlife along the riverbanks – including hippos, crocodiles, and numerous waterbirds.

For the adventurous, opt for a guided hike to the top of the falls, where the Nile forces its way through a narrow gorge and plunges 43 meters with incredible power – an unforgettable sight and sound experience.

Day 9: Visit the Top of the Falls & Transfer to Semuliki National Park

Stop for lunch en route, passing through picturesque landscapes, traditional villages, and lush countryside. On arrival at Semuliki National Park, check into your lodge and unwind in the heart of one of Uganda’s most biodiverse and lesser-known reserves.

Day 10: Sempaya Hot Springs, Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru Caves & Crater Lakes | Transfer to Kibale Forest

After a hearty breakfast, embark on an exciting exploration of Semuliki National Park’s geothermal wonders. Visit the Sempaya Hot Springs, a fascinating natural spectacle where boiling water jets up from an 8-meter-deep hole. Day 11: Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

Today is dedicated to encountering our closest wild relatives – chimpanzees! After breakfast, head into the lush Kibale Forest for an unforgettable chimpanzee tracking experience. With a 98% genetic match to humans, observing these intelligent primates in their natural habitat is both fascinating and moving. Kibale is also home to the highest primate density in East Africa, with 13 species including L’Hoest’s monkey, red colobus, black-and-white colobus, blue monkey, olive baboons, and more.

In the afternoon, explore the nearby Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-led conservation success story. The swamp walk offers excellent birdwatching opportunities and a chance to spot more primates amidst the wetland’s diverse flora and fauna.

Day 12: Rwenzori Mountains – Mahoma Trail Trekking (Day 1)

Begin a 3-day trekking adventure into the mystical Rwenzori Mountains, often referred to as the “Mountains of the Moon.” The Mahoma Trail offers a moderate and scenic hike beginning along the Kyambogho Ridge, which provides panoramic views over the Mubuku Valley.

As you ascend through the dense rainforest, keep an eye out for black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and – if you’re lucky – L’Hoest’s monkeys. Tonight, settle into the Omu’ka Kizza Rest Camp at 2,977 meters, where breathtaking views stretch across the Rwenzori foothills and Kasese town far below.

Day 13: Mahoma Lake Hike & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Arrive at the enchanting Mahoma Lake, surrounded by colorful alpine flora such as giant lobelia, mimulopsis, and everlasting flowers. After enjoying the serenity of the lake, descend and transfer directly to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving in time for a restful evening at your lodge.

Day 18 – Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi & Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Today marks a once-in-a-lifetime adventure – gorilla trekking in the mist-shrouded forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This ancient rainforest, which has survived since the last Ice Age, is one of the richest ecosystems in Africa. It is the only forest on the continent where mountain gorillas and chimpanzees coexist. Spend up to one magical hour observing a habituated gorilla family – an awe-inspiring encounter that connects you deeply with nature.

Day 19 – Golden Monkey Trekking & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for your Golden Monkey Trekking adventure in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Following a short but informative briefing by a Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger, you’ll begin your guided trek through the lush bamboo forests of the Virunga Volcanoes. These playful, fast-moving primates are endemic to the region and a delight to observe as they leap among the branches feeding on bamboo shoots, fruits, and leaves.

While golden monkeys are more active and agile than gorillas, your experience will be equally thrilling. You’re allowed to spend one magical hour in their presence before descending the slopes. Porters are available and recommended for support during the hike, and park rangers will accompany the group for safety, especially in areas where wild buffaloes or elephants might be encountered.

After the trek, take part in a Batwa Cultural Experience and guided nature walk, where you’ll learn about the forest’s first inhabitants – the Batwa pygmies – and their unique traditions.
