Akagera National Park

Akagera National Park is a protected area located in eastern Rwanda, covering over 1,100 square kilometers. It is named after the Akagera River that flows along its eastern boundary and is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, and many species of birds. The park was established in 1934 and is managed by the Rwanda Development Board in partnership with African Parks, a conservation organization.
