Tour Plan
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Hotel
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. Check-in, have a meal and relax from the journey. Before the company driver leaves, he will give details you the program for the next day.
Hotel options: Forest Cottages (budget), Pineapple Guesthouse (midrange), Kampala Serena Hotel (Luxury)
Day 2: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
As you have your breakfast, the safari driver will wait to meet you so we can start our journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Our first stopover will be at Kayabwe for the equator experience, which involves straddling at the monument and enjoying the feeling of being in the northern and southern hemispheres at the same time. We shall have an en-route lunch and arrive at the lodge in the late afternoon. Depending on the location of our lodge, we could go for a short game drive or simply check in at the lodge and relax after about 7 hours of the drive.
Lodge options: Bush Lodge or Simba Safari camp (budget), Marafiki Safari Lodge (mid-range), Mweya Safari Lodge (luxury)
Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise
Queen Elizabeth National Park is known to have a variety of mammals and morning game drives are intended to spot some of them. We shall wake up early morning, have breakfast and drive to Kasenyi. This is the best place in Queen Elizabeth National Park to see herds of Uganda kobs, waterbucks, buffaloes, warthogs and sometimes elephants. The mentioned grazers attract lions and leopards hence good chances of spotting them too.
Enjoy scenic views of Bunyampaka and return to the lodge for a short relaxation. After having lunch, we’ll drive to Mweya for the afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga channel. Lots of hippos in the water channel. Also expect to see crocodiles, buffaloes and water birds. Elephants can be spotted on a hot day, quenching their thirst and cooling their bodies. Back to the lodge after the 2 hours launch cruise.
Day 4: Game drive and transfer to Kibale, community walk
We shall have one more game drive in Kasenyi as we set off to Kibale, especially if we did not spot some animals of interest. Arrive in Kibale, check in to the lodge, have lunch and relax. Later in the afternoon, we step out and go for a community visit in Bigodi. This brings us together with the locals and we immerse in the local way of life; engage in cooking local foods, do some house chores, enjoy some stories, and visit a group of women who weave baskets as a source of livelihood. We’ll retire to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Accommodation: Chimpanzee Forest Guest House (budget), Kibale Forest Camp (mid-range), Primates Lodge (luxury)
Day 5: Chimps and transfer to Transfer to Kampala
We are expected to wake up early and be at Kanyanchu Visitors Centre by 7 a.m. for a briefing about chimpanzee tracking. Enter the forest with ranger guides and start searching for the chimps. We shall have one hour with them from the time they are spotted. After the trek, we return to the office, meet our safari guide and drive back to Kampala or Entebbe.
