Tour Plan
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to hotel
By the time you arrive at Entebbe International Airport, our safari driver will be waiting to receive you and transfer you to your booked hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. He give you the program of the next day and highlights of the entire safari.
Hotel options: Lodge options: Forest Cottages (budget), Pineapple Guesthouse (midrange), Kampala Serena Hotel (Luxury)
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi
This day will be spent on the road as we transfer from Kampala or Entebbe to Bwindi. So, after our morning breakfast, meet and greet our safari driver this morning and set off for the 9-11 hours drive to Bwindi. We shall stop at Kayabwe for the equator experience, in Mbarara town for lunch and proceed to Bwindi where we shall arrive in the evening.
Where to stay is determined by our trekking sector. We shall check in to our lodge, have dinner and rest.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Lake Mutanda
Wake up early morning, get prepared for the trek, with everything you need including a drinking water bottle, energy-giving snacks, rain jacket, and a sweater among others. Go have breakfast, pack your lunch and transfer to the park offices. We’ll be briefed, set off for the trek, search for the gorilla family allocated and once we spot it, we shall have one precious hour with the apes. Gorillas are amazing to watch as they behave like humans with actions like breastfeeding and playing. We return to the park offices for our trekking certificates and set off to Lake Mutanda in Kisoro. On arrival at the lake, we shall get aboard a canoe and connect to Gahiza Island. Depending on the time of arrival here which is determined by gorilla trekking, we could sail as we watch the sunset.
Lodge: Gahiza Island Retreat
Day 4: Lake Mutanda exploration
After relaxing from yesterday’s fatigue of the trek, we shall wake up at our leisure, have breakfast beside the lake, and later go for a canoe ride to explore the lake, caves, and birdlife. We shall have lunch at the lodge and relax in the evening as we refresh at this tranquil space.
Lodge: Gahiza Island Retreat
Day 5: Transfer to Entebbe
This is our last day of the 5 days Bwindi and Lake Mutanda safari and it starts with a sumptuous breakfast as we say farewell to the beautiful island. Cruise or sail back to the mainland and drive to Kampala or Entebbe.
