Meal plan: Dinner
Hotel options: Lodge options: Forest Cottages (budget), Pineapple Guesthouse (midrange), Kampala Serena Hotel (luxury)
Day 2: Kampala city tour
To maximize our time on this day, we should plan to have the city tour on a Saturday to avoid inconvenience of traffic jam. We shall have breakfast at the hotel and step out to explore Kampala. Our day itinerary includes a visit to Buganda Palace, Kabaka’s lake, and Kasubi tombs. All these offer cultural experiences of the Buganda culture and history. We shall also visit Gaddafi mosque and Bahai’ Temple for religious experiences, and these two sites also offer breathtaking views of Kampala and the surrounding. We could opt to visit Namugongo Martyrs shrine or an Arts and crafts market to purchase some souvenirs.
Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel
Day 3: Transfer to Jinja, boat cruise to the source of the Nile
We shall have breakfast at the lodge and set off to Jinja. Stopover at Mabira forest for a guided nature walk and zip lining. Expect to see wildlife including monkeys, baboons and several forest birds. Proceed to Jinja, have lunch and go for the boat cruise to the source of the Nile.
Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge
Lodge options: Source of the smile Guesthouse or Jinja Nile Resort
Day 4: Transfer to Sipi falls
After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, we check out and drive to Kapchorwa and Sipi in particular. We can opt to first go bungee jumping before heading to our next destination. Bungee jumping is not for the faint-hearted. In Jinja, this adventure allows a participant to jump from a cliff at 44m over the Nile. This gets your adrenaline pumping, not a usual feeling!
From here, we drive straight to Kapchorwa, a distance of about 3 to 4 hours.
Lodge options: Lacam Lodge (budget/midrange), Sipi River Lodge (Luxury)
Day 5: Coffee tour and hike to Sipi falls and abseiling
We’ll have breakfast at the lodge and go for a coffee tour in the local community around Sipi falls. It is a way of learning about the coffee production process including planting, harvesting ad processing. While on the tour, we shall have a taste of some locally brewed coffee and spend some time with the locals to immerse ourselves in the local way of life. Return to the lodge for lunch and later in the afternoon, head out for the Sipi falls guided hike. This will take us to the scenic series of three waterfalls. At this point, we enjoy the fascinating views of the landscape, the sunset and the refreshing showers from the waterfalls.
More adventure when abseiling at Sipi falls. A pair of visitors or an individual will abseil just beside the waterfalls and watch the water flow as they also get released down while fastened on the rope. Overnight at the lodge.
Meal plan: Full board
Day 6: Transfer back to Entebbe
After morning breakfast, check out and drive back to Entebbe to catch your flight back home or get dropped at your place of residence if you are extending your stay in Uganda.
